Société Française de Pédiatrie

On behalf of the American Academy of Pediatrics I offer our deep sympathy for the tragedy in Paris yesterday.  Words cannot express the horror and outrage shared by the world at the terrible events.

As pediatricians, we know that violence can have lasting effects on children even if they are only learning about it through the media. Our Academy has recently developed resources to address psychosocial support for children and families in disasters. These materials for pediatricians are at AAP.org (Talking to Children About Disasters). A consumer version for parents is at HealthyChildren.org(Talking to Children About Disasters).

While these are in English, we hope that they might be of some use and we hereby grant permission for these to be posted and/or translated and posted in whatever way might best help your Society’s membership and the children and families of France.

Please let us know if there is any way we can be of assistance.

With warm regards,

Jonathan D. Klein, MD, MPH, FAAP
